The Concept

Kayak Caledonia is about a journey by sea kayak around the roof of Scotland, camping out each evening and moving on the next day whenever the weather permits.

The Journey

Starting from Morar on the evening of 22nd May 2009 we kayaked from there to Inverness via the roof of Scotland, then down the Caledonian Canal to FortWilliam and back around the Point of Ardnamurchan to Morar.

The distance for the circuit is approximately 830km.

Our decision to start at Morar was aimed at ensuring that we encountered the most favourable tidal flows at the critical points on the route in the window we had available for the trip.
