Gavin is a 46 year old Civil Engineer and Project Manager who works for civil engineering contractor BAM Nuttall based in Kilsyth.
He lives by the sea in Largs with his wife Margarete and has been known more than once to nip out and paddle round the Isle of Cumbrae for an evening's exercise.
His entry into the world of kayaking came one sunny day on the Isle of Man some ten or more years ago when his life long friend, Chris Herbert, introduced him and his sons Gareth and Ryan to the black art of boating.
This was to be the start of an adventure for all three of them that over time has taken them to the seas and rivers of the UK, Europe, New Zealand and North America.

Gavin developed his paddling and coaching with Kyle Kayak Club and for a time with Fife Sea Kayak Club. He currently paddles regularly with the Castle Craigs Club.
