The Causes

In addition to the personal journey, we had hoped to raise at least £10 per km for our chosen charities.  Currently we have raised over £3,000, but are still hopeful of recieving a few more donations to these two important causes.

The links above will take you to the JustGiving site where your donation will be delivered directly to ChildLine or Macmillan. You can also increase your donation at no extra cost to you through the tax reclaimed by Gift Aid.

Your support is very much appreciated!!!!!

Our Chosen Charities

While we did this kayaking journey because we want to, we were also hoping to raise money for two important but very different causes, MacMillan Cancer Support and ChildLine.

We hope you will support one or even both of them if at all possible

Macmillan Cancer Support

Cancer touches the lives of so many of us in so many painful and at times devastating ways.

MacMillan exists to help improve the lives of people affected by cancer, both those living with cancer and also their families and carers. By 2010 MacMillan want to be able to reach every single person who is diagnosed with cancer and to be there for them at every stage of their cancer journey, no matter who they are, what part of the country they live in, or what type of cancer they have.

With your support we are hoping to help them to achieve this.

ChildLine

Every child deserves to grow up in a warm caring environment where they can be helped to achieve their maximum potential.  No child should have to suffer abuse, be terrified to go to school, or live in fear, but sadly many do.

ChildLine is the free helpline for children and young people in the UK that they can call at any time of the night or day.  Last year ChildLine counseled around 176,000 children and young people about a wide range of problems.  Many of these children were in great distress; others were in danger of being hurt or of hurting themselves.

Currently one third of the children who call ChildLine every day can't get through to speak to a volunteer counsellor because of lack of funds.  Every unasnwered call could put a child in more danger.  The NSPCC needs funds to expand the ChildLine service to ensure that no child's cry for help goes unheard.  Whether children call, email, text or contact them online, ChildLine wants to be there for them.

With your support we hope that they will be able to continue to provide this vital service.
